So I have no idea how to start this blog. I have written the standard entries (boring), tried to be funny (I'm not), tried to introduce myself (already did that on the about us page) and it all sounds terrible. I've often been told that I write very much in the style of how I speak so I'm going to write this as though I'm telling a story to someone in the room. So here goes.
My intent when I created this blog was to share some of the things I've learned about the Disneyworld Parks but as I have been working on the website as a whole, I realised that sometimes there may be other things that I want to share.
For example right now rather than dive right into my first story about the parks, I want to share a story about popcorn.
Anyone who is here just for disney stories might be ready to turn tale and flee but hear me out.
So I've been trying to make popcorn in my air fryer today. I brought some new flavourings back with me from the states and have tried a couple of times now to make popcorn. I've followed recipes as well as guessed and no luck. I've only ever managed to make a few kernels pop and then usually the rest burns. Whatever I'll keep trying because to be honest, even though I don't have any popcorn to nibble on, the smell of popcorn is still filling my apartment and you know what it reminds me of?
The entrance at Magic Kingdom.
While I can't remember the exact wording, I learned during a Keys to the Kingdom tour (highly recommended and something I will share more about in a later post) that the location of the first cart is deliberate. Although I'm sure it doesn't hurt their sales to have popcorn carts right at the entrance/exit, the official reason is to add to the idea that by coming into the parks you are stepping onto the stage and are part of the magic. Something that adds to this feeling is the colour of the paths beneath your feet. Ever wished to walk on the red carpet, pay attention to the ground the next time you enter Magic Kingdom and enjoy that walk onto the stage.
So next time, you smell popcorn, I hope you also can remember that bit of magic that you first experience as you step into the parks.
